About Us
The Gender Mainstreaming Committee (GMC) at Bondo Technical Training Institute (BTTI) was established in 2020 and reconstituted in 2021 as the Committee on Gender Mainstreaming, Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) to respond to the increasing needs of gender mainstreaming, advocate for and monitor gender equality in the institution, including recommending policies and best practices.
Goal
The Committee is designed to promote equality among women and men; to eliminate unlawful discrimination and harassment; and to provide an inclusive working, learning and social environment in which the rights and dignity of all its staff and students are respected to assist them in reaching their full potential.
Mission
To enable the institution excel in providing a gender-responsive organizational environment and to integrate gender into the functions in order to attain gender equality and women empowerment and to enhance zero tolerance on Sexual and Gender based Violence (SGBV).
Vision
To provide an enabling environment with zero tolerance towards SGBV where full
potential of women and men both students and staff, will be realized. Among our recent achievements include the partnership and continuous work with Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) under the Young African Works in Kenya YAW-Kenya project that has seen us finalize the development of the Sexual and gender based violence prevention policy and review of the gender mainstreaming policy. With help from Humber College, BTTI administration and CICan, we have also capacity built staff, mentee institutions and management in addition to student sensitization.
